For a few years, my husband and I have been debating between buying or building a home. Last year, we found a lot that was formerly several acres of privately owned land which the owner divided up to sell off in individual lots. The advantage to us was a relatively low cost of land compared to others nearby and no association covenants or specials. We decided to build a custom home because we were not finding exactly what we wanted locally at a price we could afford. With an architect in the family, this made sense for us.
After talking with several, we found a builder that connected to our vision, was willing to take on a custom build and turn over the design to us, while guiding us through the building experience. So, after months of planning, working with banks and our builder, we finally started digging on Friday!
No turning back now!
